Heterocycle antioxidants are mostly used as metal deactivators. When there are metal compounds with variable prices (such as copper, iron, chromium and cobalt, etc.) in lubricating oils, they can catalyze the decomposition of hydroperoxides into free radicals, thus accelerating the oxidation process. Metal deactivators combine with metal ions to form complexes, which have no catalytic activity for hydroperoxides and can slow down the oxidation rate. Heterocyclic compounds are easy to adsorb to metal surface due to their compact and stable chemical structure and high activity of nitrogen, sulfur and other elements.




Heterocyclic compounds and their derivatives as lubricating oil additives have good extreme pressure, anti-wear and anti-friction properties, high thermal stability, good oxidation resistance and corrosion resistance, so they have broad application prospects. Thiazocyclic compounds such as benzotriazole, alkyl substituted imidazoline, 2-mercaptobenzothiazole, 2, 5-dimercapto1, 3, 4-thiadiazole and their derivatives are well known as rust, oxidation and corrosion inhibitors of lubricating oils, and some derivatives have excellent extreme pressure and wear resistance. Recent 10 years, scholars at home and abroad have a lot in the same molecule was synthesized with dense structure of nitrogen heterocyclic functional groups and the extreme pressure antiwear active element with the combination of heterocyclic derivatives, and the friction and wear properties and oxidation resistance, anticorrosion properties was studied, and also for some heterocyclic derivatives of extreme pressure anti-friction and anti-wear mechanism are discussed in this paper, some research results were obtained. Benzotriazole and other nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compounds have anti-rust, antioxidant and anti-decay properties. The introduction of nitrogen-containing compounds (such as amines) into heterocyclic compounds can improve various properties of such compounds, which is a development trend of heterocyclic derivative additives (which can be prepared by Mannich reaction).
